Did you know that “whisky” means “water of life”?

According to Wikipedia:

The word whisky (or whiskey) is an anglicisation of the Gaelic word uisce|uisge meaning water. Distilled alcohol was known in Latin as aqua vitae=”water of life”. This was translated to Gaelic as Irish: uisce beatha and Scottish Gaelic: uisge beatha=”lively water” or “water of life”.

So, like a man in the desert for days and in desperate need for that drop of water on his parched lips, after a long week’s worth of work, you need to satisfy your thirst for life with nothing less than the “water of life.”

Get yourself a glass, fill it with your favorite liquid gold, add a large square block of ice (or not), and enjoy that acqua vitae tingle your taste buds and delight your stomach.

Happy Friday, everyone!
